Wow.
It's been an incredible summer.
It's been a summer to remember.
A summer to forget.
Hot, muggy, brilliant, yet dark.
Personally, I enjoyed my summer. The weather has been amazing, sometimes too amazing (40'c days on end). But I wouldn't trade it for any other type of summer. The weeks that I went on holidays with hubby, were perfect. The campground where we stayed for two weeks had trees for shade, and a swimming hole, to take plunges to cool ourselves. Out in the countryside, with swallows swooping through the air, for airshow quality entertainment. Imagine swimming, and suddenly a flock of swallows decide to dive bomb and do touch and go landings around you. Beautiful. Heart-stopping and thrilling at the same time. Read 4 books, and just laid in the sun (yes, with factor 50 plus sunscreen). Some days, I struggled to even remember what day of the week it was. A good sign that this was a relaxing holiday for me. Hubby and I reconnected better and refound some forgotten bonds that we share.
After all the hectic weeks of helping the sons both move...and settling into their new homes, it was a much needed and deserved break. Also helped me adjust a bit more to being a full-blown "empty nest" mom. Am still struggling to go into "their" rooms...and feel my stomach tighten, and my heart goes into a knot. Miss my boys...and the life and energy that they gave us. But knowing that they each have their own place now and are happy....is good for me too. Knowing that they are independent and responsible young adults.
There is one "cloud" in this summer blog. In our family.....a brother in law has been diagnosed with throat/tongue cancer. Aggressive. Treatments start next week. That is the part of summer that I would love to forget....and pray that there is healing, and a good response to treatments.

Yesterday we celebrated our 36th anniversary with a traditional homemade dinner and wine. A toast to this summer. A summer that made my heart sing, and that there were many moments I had bubbles of joy in my soul.
