On this stormy Sunday, my number one priority was to stay inside, warm, and do some serious nesting. No big plans, just a smooth, serene Sunday please.
Started off very good.
We slept in....a seriously GOOD sleep. Normally I am happy with 6 hours, in an uninterrupted stretch, and I feel like I have slept well. This morning we both woke up at ...gasp... 0937!!!!! We had gone to bed at 11:30 pm....and slept through till 0937.
What a super start to my Sunday. That was ions ago that I had slept that great. To toast this huge event, we had coffee in bed, an extra snuggle (always good)....and a serve yourself, your favorite breakfast bunch.
My delicious choice was to make sugar bread french toast ( Friese suiker brood wentelteefjes). Diet out the window, but oh so divinely tasty.....and of course another cup of fresh brewed coffee. My morning of my stormy Sunday was off to a brilliant start. Despite the Wind force 9 gales outside, it was gentle Sunday morning inside.
This afternoon we went to a concert in a local church. Everyone who came in , was literally blown into the church. The storm was still going strong, but the attendance for the concert was still very good.
It was a musical first for me. I had heard this type of music in movies, and other documentaries. But now as a live performance I have a deeper respect for the type of music, and especially the history and stories behind it. It has it's roots in eastern Europe, and has influences from Greece, to Poland, to Scandinavia, to Celtic....and flows through to Israel, and north America...
It is music of the soul, and heart. Simple instruments, and voices, sung with passion and pain. It is the common foundation of the music of the Balkan, Klezmer, and Gypsy music. Yiddish, middle eastern, Albanian. The band is called SIDARO. We were clapping, toe tapping, and dancing by the end of the concert. It grabs your heart, and your body responds by wanting to move and dance to the natural beat and rhythms.

So my Sunday was one that was started by having a storm, but ended with an enchanting serenade sung by the SIDARO quartet....which sang a french song about "reminisce" of the days gone by. Perfect for this autumn Siesta Sunday.
