Siesta Sunday. Up in the air...May 3 2015

This was a very different weekend to say the least.

Very last minute decision to grab our caravan (trailer), pack up the dogs....and go camping.

Not to your typical campground, but one was very unique. Since we live so close to the German border, going "out of the country" is so easy.  We headed south east....and slipped over the border. Our destination was a beautiful forest, that had a secret field in the middle of it.

The weather gods were being kind, and had changed their minds, that this weekend would be at least dry.  A very important factor.  The nights would be cold, but not freezing.  Thank heavens for our lovely heater in the caravan, with all mod cons. Just to be certain, I packed along extra sleeping bags, and my long johns.  Yes, real long johns.

As we pulled up to the camping area, we were welcomed by members of the club.  They helped us get settled, and set up.  Hubby's bad back ( read severe hernia that will be operated on next month) had been one of the reasons we were hedging about going; yes, or no.  But through the promise that there were be a helping crew waiting for us, we decided to go for it.  Many hands made for light and fun work.

This was my first time, being part of this club weekend.  Families, couples, young and old were there. There was a buzz in the air, and people getting themselves ready for the coming events. We got set up, and went over to the field, to see where the action was going to be.

Enough teasing and writing in riddles.  The field is actually an airstrip, in the middle of the woods.
The aircraft vary in size from very small, to experimental, to large and very fast.  All ages were flying and doing demonstration, and challenges. This is a very good example, of "men and their toys". Radio controlled model aircraft were here.  Thousands.  Every shape, size, color, type and engine type.

The several days that we were there, went by effortlessly.  I truly did have a lovely time.  The people there were helpful, kind, and pleasant.  The groups blended, and flowed together with fun, laughter, and good conversations. The dogs were in their element; and became the mascots of our camp. All in all; it worked out well.

We had left our planning " up in the air"  until the last minute.  It was a good challenge for me, to be spontaneous, and just drop everything to go away; without stressing and "over" planning  and prepping for just a trip as I usually do.  And it was great.

Certainly would do it again.
