This morning, was one of sweet morning memories.
Thanks to my neighbour.
I was still in pajamas, and fussy pink bathrobe, when my neighbour came to the door. He handed me a bundle, and waved goodbye.
Taking the bundle, I went to my comfy chair, and sat down. Unpacking the bundle, I was greeted with 2 big blue eyes, and a sweet face that was a bit uncertain as to what was going on. Cautiously we eyed each other, and in a few moments the first smiles greeted me.
This is only the third time, that I have been asked to look after her. She is only 8 months old. Her daddy had to do his school "daddy run", and I was asked if I could babysit for a while.
Luckily I had on me, my secret weapon. My fussy pink bathrobe. She clutched it, and me for dear life.
Slowly she began to feel more secure, and started to look around. The dogs carefully sniffed and greeted her. She started to relax, and reach out towards the dogs, my glasses, and others objects within grasping distance.
But soon she began to do, what most babies do, when they are tired. She found a warm fussy spot on my shoulder and began the ritual that most mothers recognize....the sleepy face rubbing.
That moment triggered memories of my 2 children at that age, and the happy moments we sat together, while they were drifting off to sleep in my arms. Those were precious and bonding times.
Today I could relive and joyously remember being a mom again.
That was a wonderful way to begin my day....sweet morning memories.
Dear neighbour, I will happily babysit again the next time you have to do a daddy-run. So I can again be a "mom" for a few moments.
