Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun of "sew fun".
I had kept my word, and did enjoy the weekend, doing things that were fun for myself. For me is was a pleasant siesta Sunday.
I had not sewn for a long time. Last time was about a year ago. I had made designer aprons, using very typical "dutch delft blue" fabrics and patterns. They were hostess gifts when I went to Canada for a few weeks. They were a big hit. With the result that several people have been asking for them.
I still had some fabric left, and wanted to make something unique and special for a dear friend's birthday. She has just recently moved to the USA, and is missing her dutch roots. What could be a more fun gift, than an apron(reversible) with very typical dutch colours and patterns. She is an avid baker, so I know it will be enjoyed. Her 3 year old daughter R., is her "helper" and loves to bake along side of mom. R. also just had her birthday, so I made her a matching apron, with a chef's hat.
So they are a matching mom and daughter duo in the kitchen.
Even just the enjoyment of thinking of them dressed in their aprons, and baking together, makes my heart happy. A big bubble of joy inside of me.
This is the result of a few days of sewing (between the regular daily stuff)....
Now to be on the look out for another fun project to sew.
