taking up the challenge

I had read the challenge of Gwen Moss.  For the entire month of October to focus each and every day on the here and now.  Not worry about tomorrow, not dwell on the past, but to use all my senses to be present in the moment.
I am running a few days behind the challenge, but think I can still catch up by remembering my special moments from the last 3 days.

October 1.  A break through day for me emotionally.  I was able to write. I had been unable to release my thoughts and emotions since my mother died 3 months ago. Writer's block plus. This was a joyful and emotional breakthrough for me. Tears streamed, but my heart soared with memories and feelings of gratitude. Pages and pages of love, and rejoicing.  Celebrating the mother-daughter bond we had.  Enjoying each other.  Enjoying now as I re live so many things while recording it in my achingly waiting journal.

October 2.  Driving back home from Germany.  The pleasure of seeing the woods change colour, yet shrouded in a half sunny mist.  It feels like summer is sadly leaving, and that autumn is waiting in the woodland wings eager to put on it's colourful show of brillantly coloured trees.  Driving through a busy city marvelling at the complexity of roadways, buildings, and industry.  Yet at the end of it all, coming home to our 2 excited dogs, who weave in and out of our legs as they beg for attention and hugs. Those are a few moments of joy.

October 3 (caught up).  Got lots done after a few days of being away. As we packed away the tent awning from the trailer, I am grateful for the summer days that we spent here. The quiet moments that I could just do my thing.  Read.  The more books I read during a vacation, is my guide as to how enjoyable my vacation was.  Thank goodness for my reading tablet.  The sunshine is not a full strength today. But enough to be warm and comfortable while working and cleaning up around the trailer. Our comfortable " nest"  of a trailer has served us well again this summer.  Lovingly we close it up, and will bring it to the barn, where it can hibernate until next summer.  In the winter months I will again start my book stash for the next vacation. That makes me smile.
