Yes, it was a more serene weekend. Time enough to sweep the sawdust away, and forget about the reno project. The sun was shining for a few hours, and there was time to visit with family and friends. Things that count.
So to sum up the weekend
grateful for:
1. Days off. For myself, for the workers, and everyone. Time to recharge, relax, and relate.
2. Friends who return home safely after a long holiday abroad. After all the tragedy of people in accidents, or running into trouble abroad; I really appreciate the first phonecall or contact of them saying that they are home and in one piece.
3. Accepting that the house is going to be a MESS until after the project is done. And that doing major clean up, and deep cleaning is useless in the meantime. Trying to keep it super tidy now is a huge waste of my energy and time. Just have to accept that there will be dust everywhere until the workers leave, and their gear is gone.
4. Friends who come over to take my dogs for long walks for the last few days, because my sore foot is still not fully recovered from therapy. Is getting better, but not yet 5 miles per day yet better. My dogs love it when the doorbell rings.
They know.
5. Able to have slept well for a few nights.
Now it is Monday, and the next crew of workers have arrived and the final week is in fully swing.
Pots of coffee and lots of chocolate chip cookies later; more windows in, detailing, finishing off areas, and rooms. Still 4 major areas to be done, but we are over the half way point.
But to my delight, my adopted daughter and granddaughter came over for the day. Between playing with playdough, colouring; and talking with the foreman about door locks, it was a nice day.
My granddaughter happily playing, not frazzled by the sound of drilling, sawing, or hammering going on around her.
Makes me happy having their company.
I am thankful for:
1. the visit of my daughter and granddaughter. Even during a building project, there is always time to cuddle a grandchild, or listen to a child who is struggling with something. Good reminder to me, of what really counts. Family first.
2. A nice sunny dry day. So I am happy, we can all work and play outside, and pets are happy.
3. Good news from my doctor. My better diet, and lifestyle changes are helping me, healthwise. Motivation to keep trying.
4. This quiet evening. A few hours to dust myself off, read a bit, and write a bit. I can feel my breathing slowing down, and getting deeper. Enough rushing around for today.
5. An extra unexpected phonecall from hubby mid ocean, just to say hello and to see if I am coping ok with everything. It means a lot to me. In situations like this, even just hearing a loved one's voice can mean so much.
