a touch of autumn

Today was a day that was a touch of autumn.  While taking the dogs for their long walk, the breeze had a hint of cold in it.  The fields were still wet from the night's rainfall. The dogs loved the new wetted down scents that were leading them along their tracks. For them everything was fresh and enticing.  For me, I was trying to keep warm, by walking faster, wishing I had put on an extra sweater. But once we got to the lake, the dogs dove into the water, as if it was a hot summer's day. I envy their labradour dog ways.  Where there is water, there is a way to get wet. At the back end of the lake, is my favourite tree.
I call it my " fire tree".  Each autumn it's leaves change from maple green to brilliant reds, and wine deep burgandy.  A transformation that despite the chills of fall, warm my heart when I see it.  Just like a roaring fire.  The first leaves have some tinges of yellows and reds.  I hope to take more pictures of it in the coming weeks as it goes through it annual tranformation from a regular tree, into becoming my fire tree.
