SHHHHHHHHHHHH
Quiet PLEASE.
Lately I have had serious bouts of "tinnitus" (ringing or buzzing in the ears).
It gets worse, if I am emotional, stressed, or have too much noise around me.
Makes it hard to focus, or try to find some quiet time and space for my thoughts. Meditation is almost impossible with the hummmmmmmm going.
Then a friend told me a "secret".
Simple, but oh so effective.
A set of good ear plugs.
Not the foamy one, but ones designed for use while sleeping, ( buzz sawing hubby snoring away at night) or just when I need to turn OFF the volume of all sounds. I have an extremely good sense of hearing (ok, with out the background ZZZZZZMMMMMMMM) that I hear too much. Example: a drawer being normally closed 2 floors down, and with 4 doors between.
Within minutes of putting them in, the zooming drops, and most often stops. It also forces me to relax, and not even be consciously or subconsciously aware of any sounds, or noises. It is like a blanket of silence the wraps itself around me. So I can retreat, and focus Falling asleep happens quicker and easier...because I don't hear every thump, click, or step in the house.
It seems that they are also great when travelling (cuts out airplane noise)...
This Siesta Sunday, I celebrate my new ear plugs...and the silence they bring to me, as I slow down, and try to be ZEN for a while.
