After years of saying we are going to do it....we have begun.
It's a weekend of rain, grey skies, and hubby has a horrible cold. We are not going anywhere. So might as well try to make the best of it.
This weekend we are closing the curtains, dimming the lights, and curling up together with a lovely glass of "something" to drink, with tasty snacks and nibbles close by. Possibly even a box of tissues, within easy reach.
We have unearthed, and brought down 4 huge boxes...and a special table, and a machine.
We have positioned the screen to the maximum viewing position.
We are going to look at trays and trays of old slides.....
Projector ready, screen up...and turn down the lights.
Slides were hugely in; and how we took "photos" and memories in the 1970's till early 1990's. Printing pictures was so expensive, that this was the average man's way of still enjoying memories and moments.
We too, preserved those years of our lives via slides. Occasionally if there were really good ones, or ones of very important moments and events...then there were prints made of them, and placed in albums.
For me, it will be a mixed emotional journey.....looking back at photos of my young adult years. Graduation from High School. Working, travelling, meeting my future husband. Getting married, immigrating to Europe....leaving Canada. And also documenting the births and first years of our sons.
About the mid 1990's we did go over to photos, and I have boxes of photos that still need to be sorted and put into albums. Don't we all have this "project" on our "to do" list?
But for this weekend....it will be a visual trip down memory lane for hubby and me....and a box of tissues.....him for his cold (and maybe tears) and me for my memory tears.
Sentimental Siesta Sunday.
