This is a combined post. Today is my (hopefully) quiet day, and tomorrow will be busy and possibly emotional.
So this is my moment to relax, reflect, and attempt to rejuvenate myself.
Having done the household chores, working on the shopping list, gathering opinions for the meal planning for the coming days; and several loads of laundry being processed, I felt the need to just type my thoughts and feelings about the difficult task that is planned for tomorrow.
We, as daughters in law; are helping our father in law with the emotional and heartbreaking task of respectfully sorting, and dealing with my mother in law's clothing and personal items. It is good that we can do this together; hoping to make this task less difficult. Thinking about how my mother in law was a lady of fashion, and always was dressed impeccably; there will be lots of clothing and items to be dealt with.
This is one of the sad moments; when we are trying to decide what to do with some one's material belongings. Memories, sentiments, and mementos are attached to everything. Each item, photo, dress, necklace....has a story and an emotion to it.
I have had to do this now for the third time. Twice with my own parents, and now for my mother in law.
Grateful for the help and support of my sisters in law. A lots to go through, physically and emotionally.
