Frosting Wed. Feb. 18, 2015

When I opened the curtains this morning, the world was covered with a frosting layer of ice. All surfaces sparkled.  Each leaf, blade of green, every possible edge was rimmed with glittering ice.  The sun had just risen, and the mist was retreating. A magical moment to watch.  I stood for a few minutes just absorbing the colours and the shimmering of prism like mini rainbows  from the ice reflecting the sun's rays.
A few hours later I took my dogs for their walk in the woods that now crackled with the frost. Each step crunched through the frozen layers. At first the dogs were jumping and bounding around reacting to the new sounds and sensations of the crispy feel of the grass.  Everything smelled new; different.  So our walk took twice as long, as they had to investigate each new scent, and of course; true to dog protocol...leave their mark.
When we came home, all 3 of us  were feeling happy and slightly buzzed with all the fresh air and sunshine.  A nice start to our day.
