This week is a week of Remembrance to the memory of the First and Second World Wars. In Holland this week, is the time when we think and remember those who endured, or perished during the horrible hunger winter of '44-45.  It was a winter that has till today never been seen before or since then; here in Holland.  The conditions were incredibly harsh, temperatures below -20'C !!!! It is also the week that Winston Churchill died, 50 years ago.  A key figure of the course of how WW II went. Also it was a mark of the beginning of WW I , 100 years ago.  A war that also cost millions of lives.  Yet it seems that history repeats itself over and over again.  Tragic moments and times in history.

In a way, also it seems fitting, that this evening, I am going to the theatre production of " War Horse".  It has played on Broadway, London, Hamburg, and now is touring in Holland.

I have seen clips of the show, and read articles of the story behind the production. I have intentionally not read the book, or seen the movie.  Hoping that I would have the chance to see it in the theatre.  Tonight it will happen.  I am going with my oldest son, who has never been in a huge theatre, but does have a good interest in history, and is very sincere about remembering those who have sacrificed their lives, and freedoms for us.
Remember, and honour.
