Today, Mother Nature took over my agenda, and is calling the shots for the rest of the week.
It is just only Monday, and it is begins with a delay.
OK, I tell myself; take a deep breath, count to 10, maybe even up to 20. Breathe again. It will be ok, and the delay means I have more time, to "get ready" (my attempt on making a negative into a positive).
Weather forecast for tomorrow (the planned Day 1 of reno on exterior of house) is STORM. For our area, there can fall up to 2 inches of rain. The contractor's phonecall came, and we have to sit the storm out. Strong winds for the next 2-3 days. It will be a set back in our planning for the next few days.
I do realize that in the big picture of life and living, this is not a major catastrophe, but an irritating kink in our planning. With a huge emphasis on "our" planning. Mother Nature always wins, hands down. Again the lesson, to just go with the flow, and be flexible to the situations that arise.
Now for a good test, and do what I have been trying to teach myself to do;
NOW note and fully appreciate at least 5 things that I am grateful for TODAY.
I am grateful for:
1. Worked well today with hubby, and got all the prep work done that we had to do. So actually tomorrow I have some free time, to do a few fun things that were on my "hope to do" list.
2. Less pain in my sore foot. Seems the treatment is working today. Feel physically and mentally lighter on my feet. Able to focus more, and get a lot done.
3. Played piano for a while. I haven't had the inner peace to do that for months. Today it just seemed to be alright and the right moment to play; and it felt OK. For years, I could only play piano when I was totally alone in the house. Stage fright +++. But today, (some of the family were at home), I could play and not feel nervous or anxious about mistakes. A good exercise not only for my self confidence, but also for my sore hands and fingers. Music today was good medicine for me, in all ways.
4. Enjoyed chatting with a dear friend. Looking forward to seeing her tomorrow, and enjoying our visit. Since she and her family will be immigrating soon; I want to treasure our visits to the max. Note to self, take camera.
5. A warm, dry house. Fixing the exterior is a luxury, but truly, I am blessed that we have a warm, cozy home on the inside. Knowing that a storm is looming on the horizon, makes me realize that even more so.
Safe and warm, sitting out the storm
