Monday's moments October 6, 2014

Yes, yesterday did stay a day of rest, and refreshment.  Dinner was a pleasure to make, and  twice as nice to eat.  The rest of the evening was cosy, and spent quietly.
Today is the beginning of a new week.  Gave some thought as to how I would like to change my routine, to give myself more space and time to be more aware of myself, and what is happening around me.
Decided to split my chores and daily work into time slots.  I have a tendency to get caught up in something, become too focused, and lose track of time.  Or, more commonly I become distracted by something else, and totally don't get around to what I had hoped to accomplish.
Some years ago I happened to find a website that gave helpful tips ( at least helpful to me) as to how to better manage my chores, and create room for doing things for myself.  It is called the " Fly Lady"  method.  Very simply: every room, or area in your home is alotted 15 minutes of attention.  That is anything that you feel that you have to do, in that area.  Only 15 minutes.  That is where the timer comes in.  Set the thing for 15 minutes and go for it.  One extra tip.  Have a ready assortment of cleaning materials, and cleaners in a bucket, crate, container-whatever works best for you, with rubber gloves and an extra garbage bag for all the things that can be tossed. With these things on hand and within reach, you can do an incredible amount of cleaning and tidying in 15 minutes. The last slot of 15 minutes is for the final chore...vaccum/mop the most important areas first..and continue until 15 minutes are up.
Today I did a " Fly Lady" in my home.  With music on, and timer ticking away it became a challenge to get a room done, before the timer even went off. At the end of the routine, it felt good to have my " nest"  more tidy and much cleaner.
The hours that were now free, were not hampered by my thinking I still had chores to do.
My time was used to go through old pictures and putter in my "office/space" .  Starting to become clear in my thoughts as to how I would like to make this room (which I have had for a year now) more suitable to who I am, and how I would like to use this room.  It is nice, to feel again my creative side coming to life.  Moodboard, Pinterest, colors, how to place furniture in a more pleasant way. Other pieces of furniture or items that I would like to have.
Starting to feel bubbles of joy at the thought and desire of having this room become " my space" (bad pun, but true).
Today I have a new found appreciation of time, and having been able to use it more efficiently. Such a simple thing as a timer, can be a very helpful tool, to someone like me.
